| | | | | Features and advantages - Overspeed Governor - Example of functions | | | | | | | | Example of functions of the BODE overspeed governor BODE overspeed governors are type tested safety components for rope and hydraulic lifts according to EN 81-1 and EN 81-2.
When the activation speed (Va) set by BODE is reached, the overspeed governor wheel is blocked and the control rope is clamped by means of the key slot rope groove. This clamping causes the safety catch on the cage to lock and the cage comes to a stop.
With BODE overspeed governors, this can take place in both directions, i.e. when the cage is moving up or down. Safety switches are provided on the overspeed governor to shut down the windlass by interrupting the safety circuit of the lift system.
These safety switches cause systems with a rated speed (Vn) up to 1 m/s to shut down simultaneously with the mechanical catch; systems with a Vn above 1 m/s must be equipped with a pre-circuit breaker on the overspeed governor in order to shut down the machine before the mechanical activation. | | |
